A beautiful Sunday to be at Queens Wharf, which saw hundreds of people gathered in protest to Ports of Auckland’s Bledisloe wharf extensions, supported by a flotilla of boats circling the harbour. It’s good to see the fervour with which Aucklanders are getting involved – especially for the development of an asset which will have flow-down repercussions for generations to come. This reclamation of the Waitemata Harbour was approved through a non-notified consent, passed through a Cultural Impact Assessment with Mana Whenua, and will cost the city more than just the view from Queens Wharf. This is a conversation which should involve us all.
