5. Introducing Sally Photo

Pacific Environments has just employed Sally Young who has recently returned from living & working in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Sally originally gained a Bachelor of Architecture with honours in Wellington in 2005 and now holds a registration with the NZ Registration Architects Board (NZRAB) and the Australian Registration Board of Victoria (ARBV). Sally has been running her own practise in Melbourne for the past two years, where she was focusing on commercial, community & residential projects.

Sally’s 10 years of experience locally and internationally includes multi-million dollar government projects within Victoria Australia, developing educational, recreational and public facilities. She has added experience in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom in residential, zoological, veterinary, sporting, hospitality, religious and other various projects, and has completed significant restorations & refurbishments on significant heritage listed building in the United Kingdom and Australia.

With regard to her career Sally is particuarly interested in portable and sustainable housing. She set up a trust called Embracing Architecture Trust (EAT) to raise money for natural disaster victims in Australia & internationally. Through this trust she developed a concept design with World Vision and other consultancy companies, to provide portable homes to those in need.  To create awareness and raise funds, Sally organised 2 art exhibitions (which included some of her own work) and a launch for the trust, and subsequently travelled to Samoa in December 2009 to assist the tsunami survivors at Lalomanu Beach. There, with the money she raised, she organised a New Years Eve event with Red Cross volunteers for over 300 tsunami survivors.

Sally is focussed on settling into the Pacific Envirnonments office and is excited to develop her porfolio in the community, education, sporting, retirement & residential sectors in New Zealand with the team at Pacific Environments.

And we couldn’t be more proud to have Sally on our team!  Bursting with ideas, she has really hit the ground running and is immersed in various projects.
