The Wellington to Auckland Cycle Challenge

Last training ride before the big day tomorrow. The team's bikes are now fully tuned, adjusted and trainer wheels removed in preparation for a winning ride. Luckily Pete had a secret stash of bikes (mini-me) for his last Saturday spin. Thanks for all your support guys!

Pete (one of our directors) is taking part in the Wellington to Auckland Cycle Challenge with the Hynds Pipes corporate team this week. We have many keen cyclists in our midst in the office, so its no surprise Pete jumped at the chance to take part. And its really quite a cool event!

Over the next 7 days (starting Sunday and riding into Auckland on Sat) Pete and the Hynds Pipes team will be racing from Lower Hutt all the way through to Pukekohe doing …110km a day. What a great way to see the country (?!)

But heres the competition part, while they are racing to get over the line first, the Hynds Pips team are competing to win $100,000 of products and services for the charity of their choice – The Heart Foundation ( a charity close to the Pacific Environments hearts at the moment –pun not intended).

So how cool is that?

You can follow their progress here as we aim to post updates, and if you feel so inclined check out http://www.heartfoundation.org.nz/fundraise/page/hynds-for-hearthealt and donate. And for more info on the race itself, check out http://www.wellingtontoauckland.co.nz/wellington_auckland/corporate_team_challenge.html
